On 19 May 2025, the Indian Business Council (IBC), in close collaboration with the High Commission of India, hosted a landmark event titled SHEpreneurs Mauritius — a celebration of women entrepreneurs, working professionals, and changemakers contributing to the Mauritian economy.
Held at the High Commission in Ebene, the event welcomed a distinguished audience and was graced by the presence of:
- Dr. the Hon. Jyoti Jeetun, Minister of Financial Services and Economic Planning
- Hon. Anishta Babooram, Junior Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare
- His Excellency Shri Anurag Srivastava, High Commissioner of India to Mauritius
In their respective addresses, the dignitaries acknowledged the immense value women bring to the national and regional economic landscape. Minister Jeetun emphasised the importance of vision, resilience, and hard work in entrepreneurship, and outlined her Ministry’s ongoing efforts to create a more supportive policy environment for women-led enterprises. Hon. Babooram highlighted the critical role of women in balancing family and professional responsibilities, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to removing barriers to women’s empowerment. High Commissioner Srivastava paid tribute to the enduring strength of women entrepreneurs and reiterated India’s strong support in fostering inclusive and sustainable growth through its partnership with Mauritius.
Spotlighting Women
The programme featured two engaging segments designed to both showcase and inspire:
🔹Turning Dreams into Reality – A powerful presentation session where IBC women entrepreneurs shared their project journeys, innovative business ideas and the real challenges they’ve overcome to build sustainable ventures. Each story highlighted the blend of purpose, creativity, and perseverance that defines the IBC community.
🔹Turning Passion into Profit – A live panel discussion featuring IBC’s women members, offering candid insights into entrepreneurship, risk-taking, balancing roles, and navigating the local and regional markets. This segment created space for honest conversation, exchange of experiences and peer inspiration — key ingredients in building a thriving women-led business ecosystem.
A Moment of Collective Pride
The event not only celebrated the achievements of individual entrepreneurs but also demonstrated the growing impact of collaborative platforms like IBC. Through curated speeches, visual presentations and powerful conversations, SHEpreneurs Mauritius reaffirmed the importance of women-led development and cross-sector support.
