WELCOME TO THE INDIAN BUSINESS COUNCIL(IBC), MAURITIUS
Message from the President
Dear Esteemed Members,
I am deeply honored by the trust you have placed in me by electing me as President of the Indian Business Council (IBC), Mauritius. I accept this responsibility with humility and a deep commitment to advancing our collective interests and further strengthening the Indo-Mauritian business partnership.
The IBC has evolved into a respected and credible institution thanks to the dedication and vision of those who came before us. I would like to formally acknowledge and express my sincere appreciation to Mr. Pradeep Malik and Dr. Suresh Nanda, along with their respective Management Committees, for their invaluable contributions in laying a solid foundation for the IBC.

Mr. Jayasankar Seshadri
President and founder member – Indian Business Council
We are a diverse and dynamic community of professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders representing a broad range of sectors. It is through our shared expertise, collaboration, and strategic focus that we can unlock new opportunities and respond effectively to the challenges of a rapidly changing business environment.
As we build upon past achievements, I am pleased to share four strategic priorities that will guide our efforts in the months ahead:
- Strengthening Networks and Building Strategic Partnerships
IBC will proactively design and deliver high-impact events, forums, and initiatives to foster meaningful connections among members. These platforms will promote knowledge sharing, identify collaboration opportunities, and support mutual business growth.
In addition, we are developing a dedicated digital interface to enhance member-to-member engagement, more details on this will be shared shortly. To promote more fluid and ongoing interaction, we are also exploring the possibility of hosting monthly informal meet-ups, encouraging regular dialogue and idea exchange. This initiative is being discussed and updates will follow soon.
2. Advocacy and Policy Influence
As a collective voice for our members, IBC has the ability and responsibility to engage with key authorities on matters that impact our business environment. We aim to understand common challenges, propose constructive solutions, and advocate for policies that not only benefit our members but also contribute to the broader Mauritian economy.
Our efforts will be guided by the IBC’s core vision of “connecting economies.” We will work in close coordination with the governments of both India and Mauritius, as well as with regulators and other business associations, to ensure that the voice of the IBC is both heard and respected.
3. Advancing Women in Business
Promoting the participation and success of women in business is not just a strategic priority, it is an economic imperative. We will work with the Economic Development Board of Mauritius and other stakeholders to launch targeted initiatives supporting women entrepreneurs and executives.
We also recognize the untapped potential of talented women who are currently inactive due to administrative or regulatory constraints, such as permit requirements. It is vital that we address these barriers and create an inclusive environment where all talent can thrive.
- Collaboration with Other Business Chambers
My predecessors have laid the groundwork for collaboration through MOUs with various local and international business chambers. These partnerships create valuable frameworks for cooperation and exchange.
I intend to build on this momentum, revitalizing existing alliances and forging new relationships, particularly with Africa-focused chambers. Strengthening the India-Mauritius-Africa business corridor will be an important part of our external engagement strategy.
I call upon each of you to actively engage with the IBC. Your participation, perspectives, and ideas are central to the Council’s success. Together, we can create a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-thinking organization that serves as a powerful voice for the business community.
Let us also make it a priority to grow our membership. A larger, more diverse member base strengthens our credibility, influence, and ability to shape the Indo-Mauritian economic dialogue.
Let us move forward, united in purpose and confident in our collective strength.
